What is Biblical Counseling?
Biblical counseling relies on the transformational message of God’s Word to address the struggles in the lives of individuals, couples, and families. At Ustick Baptist Church we believe that Biblical counseling offers true hope and healing for those seeking help. This is why we offer the encouragement and application of the unchanging message of Scripture guided by trained men and women of God.
Biblical counseling develops a Biblical perspective which emphasizes:
- Our continual dependence on God for wisdom (James 1:5, Proverbs 2:1-6)
- The sufficiency of Christ for salvation and spiritual maturity. (2 Peter 1:3-4)
- The primacy of the Word of God for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
From a Biblical perspective we learn:
- precepts and direction from God to guide us during times of struggle
- principles that touch hearts and change lives
- our position and identity in Christ
- the promises of hope from God
In a world seeking quick solutions and temporary relief, Biblical counseling offers deep life-long transformation from the Holy Spirit working in one’s heart. This process is filled with grace and is ultimately redemptive. When people are guided to the Biblical change process of sanctification (“putting off” the old life and “putting on” the new life) they are offered much more than behavior modification. They are offered a new life saved by Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit and redeemed by God.
Our trained team at Ustick Baptist Church offers this unique kind of counseling. If you seek the encouragement of a listening ear, someone to walk together through struggles or discovering unity in relationships, our trained staff is here to help.
