“and from everyone who has been given much shall much be required; and to whom they entrusted much, of him they will ask all the more.”
Luke 12:48
Dear Church Family,
In the parable from which the above is taken, Jesus has emphasized the importance of being faithful in readiness to do the “masters” will. Included in that faithfulness is the understanding that if the “master” has entrusted much to you, you need to understand that you are required to use it well! Out of your being blessed, you need to be prepared to bless others. Indeed, those who are given much are actually going to be asked to do more for the kingdom of God!
As a church, the Lord has indeed given us much! We have an incredible staff, wonderful servants of Christ who so willingly and joyfully serve in so many areas of ministry and we have seen God not only spur His people to give to support that ministry, but we’ve been able to even give above and beyond to reduce our debt on our facilities! The Lord indeed is good!
With the blessing of our facilities, we have always tried to see them not as an end in themselves but as a means to an end of facilitating greater ministry to the glory of God. That ministry is seen not just for “us” as members of Ustick Baptist Church but also for the greater Christian community of Boise and beyond and for outreach to those who have yet to meet our wonderful Savior Jesus! To the end of using the “much” we have been given, the Elders have invited a community-wide ministry called Bible Study Fellowship to use our facilities on Tuesday nights beginning in September and going through May. This women’s Bible study solely seeks to teach Scripture at a very investigative and thorough level for those who are Christians or who are seeking truth. Many women have come to Christ through this thorough study of God’s Word! At any rate, I wanted to let you know that this “group” of some 300 plus women will be benefiting from what God has blessed us with in our facilities. I am excited that we will be part of something that not only teaches the Word of God with such diligence but also that which allows us to be part of the larger Christian community in the Treasure Valley! While Bible Study Fellowship is not “our ministry” in the sense of being solely from or for Ustick Baptist Church, it is “our” ministry in that we welcome like-minded believers to share in God’s facilities to further His kingdom!
So we get to participate in seeing God, who has given us much, “requiring” us to share and I look forward to a great and exciting relationship with the women’s night meeting of BSF! Please join me in welcoming another part of the work for the kingdom!
Serving with you,
P.S. I’m also so excited to see the facilities God’s blessed us with being used for Vacation Bible School and the outreach concert coming up on August 2nd! How good it is to share our blessing with others!
