Our Children's Ministry offers classes and activities for children of all ages and abilities. We invite you to visit us this week and ask how we can partner with you to raise your children in such a way that they will become fully developing followers of Christ.

We are also looking for more adult and youth helpers. Please contact Marian Smith or Amy Putman for more information.

This year we will be doing a series of songs entitled “To Be Like Jesus.” They are each about the Fruits of the Spirit. Each song takes a different fruit and makes it easy to put into practice! So each month we will learn a new “fruit.” It would help if your kids could be listening at home since our time is short at Sunday School. If you would like you can purchase this from SovereignGraceMusic.org, they are $12. They also have MP3 downloads if that works better. What a great Christmas gift! We are so excited to start learning these new songs with all the kids!

Also, we have a few DVD’s from our Christmas program “The Christmas County Spelling Bee”,
ready for you to purchase for a suggested donation of $5. It is a great recording so if you would like one just let me know.

Thanks!

Melissa Stadtlander

We are blessed to have all our Sunday school teachers refreshed and back this fall. The teachers are excited about teaching from a different curriculum this fall. We have chosen to try Gospel Light. Please take note of the papers they bring home and what the children are saying about what they are learning.

While you are upstairs, be sure to stop and look at the hall wall painting and verse. The sheep that some of you purchased in June are named and on the wall. You can still purchase your family sheep which will then be added to the growing flock.

The children’s Sunday school offering will continue to help the Juarez mission, especially in the purchasing of gluten free foods for Samuel.

KidCheck Starts Feb 1

January 25, 2009

We will start using KidCheck Sunday, February 1.

Signup Online
If you didn’t check in your child today, we encourage you to signup online before arriving next week. It’s easy and only takes a few minutes.

If you are already using KidCheck at a daycare or another church, you will not need to register your child again. Just bring your bar code or provide your phone number.

  • Each week, tables will be setup outside the sanctuary near the church office. Simply scan your barcode or provide your phone number.
  • Two name tags will be printed; one to be placed on your child’s back and another for you to keep.
  • Your matching name tag is required to pick up your child after class.

It is absolutely necessary that you escort your children to their Sunday school pew and let the teacher know that your child is present. The same applies to Children’s Church. Never let your child go to either place without you.

Mark your calendars to join us on a campout! SonRock Kids Camp will be held July 19th through the 23rd. Keep an eye out for further details!

Children’s Church Update

October 28, 2008

I appreciate that you are keeping your first graders with you during the sermon time. It helps having a smaller age span with which to work. The youth volunteers have really been an important part of keeping the second service Children’s Church alive. We have between 12 and 20 children each Sunday. The youth help keep the peace during the story time, work with the children during craft and game time, and help new children adjust. Please give the youth helpers a big thank you when you come to get your children.

Have you ever wondered what your children are learning in Sunday school? Ask them, look at their papers, have them tell you one thing that they learned from the lesson that they will use throughout the week. In turn, share what you are learning in your Sunday school class.

Thank you for having your children here consistently and on time each Sunday.

Nursery Update

October 28, 2008

Nancy Brennan, our first service attendant, will be taking a few months off. Tiffany Hart is willingly stepping in to help out while Nancy is gone. We still have a need for one more lady to help out once a month in the nursery during first service. If you would like to rock or play with a baby once a month, please contact Jennifer Eshleman.

If you wonder about church growth, you might want to look into the nursery rooms during second service. There you will see at least 10 babies and toddlers entertaining our nursery attendant and volunteers.

Jennifer Page has felt led to use her talent to develop a Children’s Page that will co-ordinate with the sermon each Sunday. The activities on this page will be geared toward the first through third grader. There will be a quiet activity, and a couple of family discussion questions. You will find the Children’s Page in the bulletin starting the first or second Sunday in November. What a blessing this will be to the families who have children that have outgrown Children’s Church.
