Ministry Fair Update

October 1, 2008

First, I’d like to thank everyone who took part in another very successful Ministry Fair in August this year! One of our main goals was to “connect” our church family with the ministries of our church in both caring and fun ways! There were (and still are!) many opportunities to see you all reach out to each other in love, caring for each other and inviting still others to be a part of what God is doing here at Ustick Baptist Church. We all are the “winners” in times like this when we all work together. I not only count it a great privilege to serve the Lord with you, but I also praise the Lord for you all! THANKS!

Second, I’d like to let you know who are the “winners” of this years Ministry Fair contest. Did you forget? I didn’t! For the best theme related display/booth, the top prize goes to the Mission’s display. For the most unique/creative display/booth, the top prize goes to the Children’s ministry! Congrats to you! So please come see me in my office and receive your prize! Thanks once again to all of you who worked vey hard at praying over, and planning for this Ministry Fair. So many were blessed and encouraged as they took a part in it on the receiving end! You all made this a wonderful time for our entire church family to enjoy! This was definitely a “win-win” ministry event for all of us!

Third, I’d like to know if you have any input, ideas, or suggestions for next years Ministry Fair? Do you have any ideas of what might make for a good theme? Some of you have already given me your feedback and for this I am truly grateful! Or if you would like to be a part of next years MF planning committee? Great, I’d love to have you join us as we serve the Lord and encourage one another, so please just let me know?!

Fourth, we were able to “connect” quite a few people to be “cared for” through our Growth Group ministry during the Ministry Fair. We’ve actually got a new group starting right now and some others that are interested in being a part of one! If you are one that is here at UBC and do not “feel connected or cared for”, could you please let me know? We care deeply for you and desire you to be connected here as a member of our church family. As I’ve said before concerning our church leadership, we are all very committed to and convinced that these groups are a vital link to our spiritual health and growth in Christ here at Ustick Baptist Church! So it is not too late to join one! Just let me know?!

Fifth, we have a couple of real special days or events that are scheduled and being planned for in November. The first is on November 9 (which is the National Day of Prayer) and we will be hosting the VOM (Voice of the Martyrs) ministry for both of our church worship services. Pastor David Witt will be here to speak on this dynamic ministry and what God is doing around the world in the persecuted church. If you would like to check their web site out just go to www.persecution.com or go to www.SpiritofMartyrdom.com. The second is on November 16 which will be something new called our “Outreach Ministry Sunday”. Pastor Greg will be speaking on the importance of outreach as one of the Core Values of our church. We will be inviting some ministries that we are already connected with who serve the Lord in community service outreach. I’ll have more information and details on both of these events in our next month’s newsletter, so please be watching for that in November.

Well, to say that I am blessed and encouraged in the Lord by you all is a BIG understatement! God continues to minister and care for our needs through each other in so many ways. I am just humbled and amazed that HE let’s us be involved in his Kingdom work in any way at all! This is how the Lord states it through the Apostle Paul to us in 1 Corinthians 12:25

“…that there should be no division in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.”

May God bless you all richly as you seek and serve our Lord Jesus Christ in caring for one another! You are all “winners in my book!”

“The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen”
Pastor Mike
